Are you selling your home anytime soon? What about purchasing a home? These are the two most common scenarios in which people will choose to have a mold inspection done, although they are not the only two scenarios. Mold inspections are also done during or before extensive renovations and occasionally when you have an immune-suppressed person living in your household. No matter the reason, mold inspections can be an enlightening process. There are the places that are common mold-magnets, but a thorough mold inspection will look in the uncommon places, as well. Here are some surprising places that might come up during a mold inspection:

• Inside your ductwork. Mold can go unnoticed for a long time in your ductwork-- usually because not many people look through their ducts very often! Ducts are dark, have a ready supply of warm air, and can be moist areas in humid environments. They’re also difficult to clean. This makes them perfect for mold growth.
• Drywall- Mold loves drywall due to drywall’s ability to hold onto moisture. Even small areas that get wet can cause a spreading area of mold growth on the other side of your drywall. These areas are often the ones uncovered during renovations or construction.
• Foundation- Even small cracks in your foundation can be nice environments for mold to grow in. These areas are usually warm and moist from the soil surrounding the foundation.
